Founded in December of 2007, the idea for publishing an uplifting community magazine came about as a result of many conversations between mother and daughter, Lula Hunter and Gwen Pierce about the need to spread more positive stories and information.
Initially, The Chocolate Voice was established to create an optimistic publication that celebrates the past and present achievements of African Americans in connection to the Tucson Arizona community. However, as a result of increased readership and overwhelming support beyond the region, it is with great pleasure that TCV welcomes readers from across the globe.
Our main goal is to enrich the publication by communicating positive articles that encourage our readers to move past negative stereotypes and labeling in an effort to promote a healthy well being for all.
