NEW YORK, NY – APRIL 18, 2016 – BLACK GIRLS ROCK! founder, Beverly Bond, announced that applications for the annual BLACK GIRLS LEAD summer conference are available online today, April 18, 2016, at www.blackgirlsrock.com. The deadline for applications is Friday May 20, 2016 at 11:59PM.

BLACK GIRLS LEAD (BGL) is a 4-day international leadership conference hosted in New York City, which is designed to fortify girls between the ages of 13-17 who come from various socioeconomic and geographical backgrounds. Applicants should exhibit strong leadership potential, a vested interest in their personal and professional development, a foundation of cultural pride, a deep determination to excel, and a will to use their brilliance to impact the world!

The annual summer conference is designed to advance young women’s leadership development, critical thinking skills, academic achievement, civic engagement, and philanthropy. Bond said, “BLACK GIRLS ROCK! continues to be committed to empowering girls to lead, innovate and serve.” She added, “Programs like the BLACK GIRLS LEAD conference are critically important in order to develop the self-esteem, confidence, critical cultural literacy and overall leadership skills of the girls who will be thought leaders and change agents of the future.
