The news was shared on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, leaving many loyal customers shocked and saddened by the sudden decision.

One such customer, Regina Howard, a regular at Coops who visits after her hair appointments, expressed her surprise at the closure, stating that no one mentioned it during her recent visit. Howard raved about Coops’ delicious brisket, potato salad, and sweet potato pie, making it a post-hair appointment tradition for her.

Owner Brad Cooper, known as Coop, took to Instagram to share the difficult decision with their loyal customers. The Coop family had to make the tough call to close the restaurant, but assured everyone that this isn’t the end. While the brick-and-mortar location may be closing, Coop’s will continue catering and hosting pop-up events, so fans can still enjoy their mouth-watering BBQ.

The community showed their support for Coops during its final days, with lines forming around the building and customers waiting hours for a taste of their favorite dishes.   1. Oh no!! So sorry to receive this info. Whenever in the San Diego area, we make it a point to stop by Coop’s. Have to make a special trip over before this community treasure closes!! 😔

  2. Due to an overwhelming response and outpour from the community, Coops made the decision to reopen Friday through Sunday from 10:00 am until 3 pm, or until they run out.
