HBO’s Mr. Dynamite: The Rise Of James Brown, Alex Gibney’s biography of the hardest working man in show business and Disney Junior’s preschooler series, Doc McStuffins were honored and are among the documentary, education and public service 2015 Peabody Award winners.
Described by critics and fans of the show as heartwarming and gently humorous, the educational animated series Doc McStuffins, showcases positive images featuring an African-American physician’s daughter, who repairs damaged stuffed animals and other broken toys, calms children’s fears about going to the doctor while, promoting the medical field as a profession.
Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown (HBO) Jigsaw Productions, Jagged Films, Inaudible Films in association with HBO Documentary Films, tells a fascinating story about race, culture and politics with fascinating clips and interviews with musicians who worked with the Godfather of Soul.
All the winners will be presented with their awards on Sunday, May 31, in a ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York with Fred Armisen as host. Pivot, Participant Media’s TV network, will premiere “The 74th Annual Peabody Awards on Pivot,” a 90-minute special on Sunday, June 21 at 9pm ET/8pm CT.
