Following the likes of Ava Duvernay and Misty Copeland, Miss Gabby Douglas now has a Barbie of her own as well!
The doll is a part of Barbie’s Shero doll campaign, geared toward empowering young girls by showcasing and honoring real life women who have accomplished extraordinary achievements.
In an interview via Barbie’s twitter account, Douglas reflects on her role models, shares advice, and encourages girls to love and embrace themselves. She joyously smiles and says, “It’s such an honor to have a Barbie doll made in my own likeness!”
We at The Chocolate Voice are personally excited and so proud of all that Gabby has done. It’s a great feeling to know that our young girls have another role model to look up to, and a beautiful doll to play with. We’ll be wishing Gabby all the best as she competes in Rio this summer with the US Olympics Gymnastics Team!
