The seventh annual BLACK GIRLS ROCK! award show which aired on BET November 4, featured a performance by one of our favorite black girls who rock, grammy winning artist, India.arie. Arie’s stellar performance of her empowerment anthem, “I am not my hair,” had the crowd rocking in their seats.
BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc., founded in 2006 by Beverly Bond, is 501(c)3 non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media.
