Correction begins with the 2026 Mid-Terms!
A growing number of Americans are waking up to feelings of disenfranchisement, confusion, and anger—feelings rooted in the realization that they’ve been misled by Donald J. Trump. The man who once vowed to “drain the swamp,” lower food prices, and end the war in Ukraine has, instead, presided over a deeper descent into chaos. The swamp, it seems, is overflowing.
Trump has launched a meme crypto coin that directly benefits him and his family, accepted a jumbo jet that he intends to convert into Air Force One—at taxpayer expense—and unilaterally imposed tariffs without Congressional approval. (Let’s be clear: tariffs are taxes. They raise prices for American consumers, not lower them.) He also created a fake ad-hoc government agency—DOGE—to shut down federal agencies and fire civil servants, while empowering ICE to conduct masked raids, abducting college students, workers, and even patients at medical appointments.
These clandestine, unethical abductions mirror tactics seen in authoritarian regimes. Tragically, America appears to be moving in that direction.
Polls reflect a nation in turmoil, as Trump continues to impose his will over a once-proud but now spineless Republican Congress. His administration passed the largest tax cuts in U.S. history, resulting in a massive and disproportionate transfer of wealth to the rich—what he cynically labeled the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The economic pain from this “robbery” is only now beginning to be fully felt.
In truth, the bill was a pillar of Project 2025—a blueprint developed with the Heritage Foundation to reshape America from a democracy into an autocracy. Under this plan, nonpartisan career government workers are fired and replaced by loyalists. Merit and skill are irrelevant; loyalty is the only job qualification.
Many who dismissed Project 2025 are now realizing they’ve been deceived. They’ve been—quite literally—bamboozled.
According to Merriam-Webster, “bamboozled” means to be thrown into a state of confusion or misled by deceptive means. It also refers to being cheated or taken advantage of through elaborate underhanded tactics. This is precisely what has happened.
As ICE raids continue across predominantly Democratic, or “Blue,” states, the silence from Republican leadership is deafening. No one dares challenge Trump’s divisive, hate-filled agenda. Life goes on, but so does the misery.
In his film Crooklyn, Spike Lee portrayed a city overrun with corruption. But this isn’t a movie—this is real life. As the late Gil Scott-Heron once said, “The revolution will not be televised.” The revolution is now. And to borrow from Marvin Gaye: “What’s going on?”
What’s going on is a deliberate transformation of the United States. As we approach the 250th anniversary of this Republic, we find ourselves on the edge of collapse—under the banner of “Making America Great Again.” A slogan that, in practice, has become code for consolidating power and wealth in the hands of a whiter, wealthier minority.
The government has been hijacked through fraud and manipulation, aided by those consumed with greed and power. Trump, speaking to a Christian group before the last election, said: “Vote this time and you won’t have to vote anymore. We’re going to fix it.” Fix it, indeed—with a system that serves only him.
As former First Lady Michelle Obama once said, “The presidency doesn’t change who you are—it reveals who you are.”
What Trump’s presidency has revealed is troubling: a willingness to lie, manipulate, and tear down the democratic foundations of the nation for personal gain.
Trump lost the 2020 election and immediately pushed the lie that it had been stolen. Whether he truly won in 2024 is questionable—how he might have reversed the outcome remains to be seen. Even more troubling is the lack of pushback from Democrats, who failed to demand serious scrutiny of how swing states suddenly flipped.
But here’s what we can do: Focus on the 2026 midterm elections. A strong voter turnout can shift the balance of power in Congress and end the GOP’s servitude to Trump. It’s time to elect leaders who won’t bow, bend, or break at his command.
Make no mistake: reclaiming our democracy begins with the midterms. Register. Organize. Vote.
Let’s return to a nation governed by laws—not by one man’s delusions or ambitions. We are better than this, America.
Much better.
