Oh Yes, The Emmy Nods Are In!

So, the 2016 Emmy nominations were announced this morning and….okay, not going to lie – I am very bummed about UNDERGOUND getting snubbed, and Malachi Kirby (ROOTS) getting snubbed, but I will get over it because I am so happy that 21 actors of color are nominated, and there is a person of color nominated in every major category! Yes!

I think the EMMYs got it right with their nominations and there are no signs of forced inclusion, AKA – everyone nominated gave stellar performances, and it clearly appears to be based on talent, and not solely color. This is what we’re going for people! (And by people, I mean The Academy!)

As a TV buff, I’m rooting for both Aziz Ansari AND Anthony Anderson for Lead Actor in a Comedy. I’m also rooting for Andre Braugher, Keegan-Michael Key, AND Tituss Burgess for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series. And, I’m rooting for literally everyone involved in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

I will say this, I noticed that Lemonade is nominated. Yes, Beyoncé’s Lemonade. I don’t get it one bit, and I hope the BeyHive doesn’t attack me for this but I think that was because someone just realllyyyy liked her. Come on, The Wiz! versus Lemonade? COME.ON. But, I digress. I’ll just bask in my joy of the awesome list of nominees. I’m channeling Anthony Anderson’s joy:
