Just like Sly Stone says, “Hot Fun in the Summertime” is coming, and there’s nothing quite like a trip or two to the San Diego County Fair. A tidbit of history for you: the fair has been a San Diego tradition since 1880! Wow!
This year’s theme, “Let’s Go Retro,” encourages visitors to travel through time and bop their way around the happy days of the ‘50s; twist, shout, and classic vinyl 45 records of the ‘60s; move and groove through the disco nights of the ‘70s; moonwalk it back to the days of big Afros and bell-bottom jeans and shoulder pads of the ‘80s; and enjoy the era of flannel and floppy drives of the ‘90s. We’re excited to relive the cultural comforts of the past while living in the moment with food, games, and entertainment.
What’s also exciting is the entertainment lineup, filled with nostalgia-inducing performances. Talk about taking a trip down memory lane! Mark your calendars for:

- Kings of Late Night on June 21
- Smokey Robinson on June 26
- Ludacris on June 28
And let’s not forget the spectacular 19th annual Gospel Day on Saturday, June 29, showcasing the best of San Diego’s local gospel talent.
The Fair kicks off on June 12 and runs through July 7 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Get ready to relive the good times and create new memories!
