As Viola Davis became the first African American woman to win at last nights Emmy’s for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, Davis quoted Harriet Tubman, thanked her peers – including fellow nominee Taraji P. Henson – who embraced her colleague after her historical win with such emotion that it brought tears to all watching. Davis gave the audience a powerful reminder stating that, the only thing that separates women of color in from anyone else is opportunity.
