Women of Color Unite Host Private Screening of ‘Cross’ Season 2 at Jamul Casino

It was an incredible night—full of energy, celebration, and powerful storytelling!

Over the weekend, the creators of Women of Color Unite, in partnership with Jamul Casino and Blue Monday Productions, hosted an exclusive Amazon Prime “Cross” Season 2 Watch Party—and it did not disappoint.

Guests were treated to complimentary drinks and delicious bites, along with sleek black gift bags filled with swag from the series and the casino. In a nod to the show’s Washington, D.C. roots, attendees also received a coffee mug from the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl—a perfect touch that brought the spirit of D.C. straight to the celebration.

After screening two gripping episodes of Season 2, the excitement continued with a lively Q&A moderated by WOCU founder Cheryl L. Bedford, an NAACP Image Award nominee for the critically acclaimed documentary Dark Girls, produced and directed by Bill Duke.

Cast members in attendance included Alona Tal (Kayla Craig), Johnny Ray Gill (Bobby Trey), and Ashley Rios (Malika Goodspeed), who offered behind-the-scenes insights and shared their experiences bringing Season 2 to life.

The celebration didn’t stop there. Following the talkback, guests headed to the rooftop for more food, cocktails, and an opportunity to mix and mingle with the cast, crew, and members of Women of Color Unite—capping off the evening with connection and community under the night sky, overlooking the pool.
