HOUSE OF BLUES SAN DIEGO CELEBRATES ITS 8TH ANNUAL HOUSE OF GIVING EVENT BY FEEDING 400 PEOPLE THIS THANKSGIVING

House of Giving Benefitting Local Organizations OASIS Clubhouse, the YWCA and Alpha Project

Via Press Release (San Diego, Calif. – November 1, 2013) House of Blues San Diego, is celebrating its 8th annual House of Giving event this Thanksgiving, benefitting local organizations such as OASIS Clubhouse, YWCA and Alpha Project, to feed 400 guests this holiday season. A long-standing tradition at every House of Blues venue, House of Giving is held every year on Thanksgiving. The venue opens its doors to those less fortunate, feeding them a delicious, home cooked meal and providing live entertainment they can enjoy in a safe, warm environment.

The tradition began in 1992, when the first House of Blues venue in Cambridge, MA opened its doors to the homeless community of Boston and the surrounding areas, feeding its first meal to these guests as a way to carry out the company’s motto “Help Ever, Hurt Never.” This phrase has permeated every action at House of Blues since and the event that started it all continues every year on the holiday embodying family, memories and giving back to the community.

In addition to holding the event, House of Blues is holding a canned food drive for the month of November. Guests visiting Crossroads at House of Blues San Diego can donate three canned food or nonperishable items to receive 15 % off on their restaurant check or their Company Store purchase. Items collected during this time will be donated to local food banks and organizations.

The House of Giving event will feature a hosted meal for 400 local families, children, and homeless on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. House of Blues will open its doors for the eighth year to accommodate two seatings (10 a.m. and 11 a.m.) that will include a plated meal and live entertainment by the Mission Bay Preservationists and the Euphoria Brass Band in the Music Hall. Guests will be treated to a traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables, rolls and pumpkin pie.
