SAN DIEGO, CA – Basketball and community is what drives The San Diego Guardians and Homecourt Advantage. That’s why building confidence and guiding our future leaders through mentor and mentee relationships is so important to both of these organizations.
In honor of January being National Mentorship Month, The San Diego Guardians training camp signees will surprise the young athletes of Homecourt Advantage with the shoe donations received during their shoe drive.
“I know first hand the importance of mentoring as I have had a mentor in many facets of life and have served in a mentor capacity for over a decade. It will be exciting to see how our signees engage with the younger athletes and the formation of the mentor-mentee relationship,” said Chaunteal Webb-Candler, The Guardians Co-Team Market Owner and Director of Community Engagement.
Finding the right mentor is like finding the right pair of shoes, they build confidence and help you walk through life.
“Imagine children with high levels of self esteem, empathy, self-efficacy, and the ability to regulate their emotions,” said Glady Whitehead, Homecourt Advantage CEO. “They will make this world a better place just by being themselves. This is what happens when mentorship matters. This is human connection. This is Homecourt Advantage and The San Diego Guardians.”
The “Find Your Fit” event will be held January 9th at 12pm at East County Transitional Living Center.
